Hi friends! I’m so excited to be sharing this hair care routine with you to help with dry and frizzy hair, the products I discovered for this hair routine and tips I’ve been implementing to improve my own hair.
Visiting a hairdresser in Seattle the hair stylist tried to figure out what my hair type is and she was simply confused because my hair isn’t curly neither straight, not sleek nor coarse but its somewhere in between. That’s how she described it. LOL !!!!!
I don’t think she knew how to deal with my hair type because she tried to dry my hair with a paddle brush which often works on other hair types. I could see the frustration on this stylist’s face as she tried to smooth out my hair. She simply could not tame my hair unless she used the flat iron.
Being in Washington for over a year now, my hair had to acclimatize to the weather here and went from looking very healthy in Cape Town to looking a complete mess here.
It started looking dry, lifeless and extremely frizzy. I was never subjected to these kinds of problems before and knew that I couldn’t simply just stick to my old routine and products anymore and that I needed a new routine.
WASHING ROUTINE
One thing that has not changed about my routine is the fact that I only wash it once a week, typically on a Friday.
My hair normally stays clean for about 4 to 5 days which is a blessing in disguise especially being a busy mom. When my hair starts to look greasy at the roots I would then use dry shampoo.
SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
So I’ve been using the WOW Skin Science range. What I like about the WOW products is that they are clean. Meaning the products are vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and paraben and sulphate free. I also love the fact that they have products for a variety of concerns people might have.
The shampoo I have been using is the activated charcoal and keratin. This shampoo’s key ingredients are:
- Activated Charcoal which helps detoxifies hair to allow healthy hair cleanse and growth.
- Sweet Almond & Argan Oil moisturizes and strengthens hair because of the essential vitamins and omega 3 fatty acids.
- Jojoba Oil which is a dandruff remedy that helps cleanse and moisturize the scalp to prevent early signs of hair loss.
- Aloe Vera Extract provides intense hydration which replenishes hair follicles and roots
The conditioner I’m using is the WOW Skin Science Coconut Milk Conditioner. Its key ingredients are:
- Coconut Milk Extract which is rich in vital nutrients that help nourish and moisturize hair strands for you to get a vibrant shine.
- Olive Oil increases blood circulation to soothe the scalp and help stimulate follicles for natural hair growth.
These are all the ingredients needed in one bottle to get healthy looking hair. The WOW SkinScience range is amazing because not only is it clean, the price point is amazing. I would highly recommend you visit their site https://www.buywow.com and check out the additional products they have, you can also subscribe to get amazing deals that may include bundles.
MASKS
I discovered this product when I added it into my FFF (FabFitFun) box. I didn’t know this product from a bar of soap but it looked interesting to me and I wanted to try it and by then I was desperate to try any product to get my hair looking healthy again. So when it arrived I tried it immediately and to my surprise I was amazed!!!!!!
The product is none other than Briogeo Don’t despair Repair Deep conditioning mask.
What I like about this mask and Briogeo products is that they too are a clean brand thats products are free from sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, phthalates, and more. (Check out their website for more details https://briogeohair.com ) It helps with restoring moisture which is so desperately needed for dry hair.
I mask once a week after shampoo, put on the mask and leave it on for about 10 minutes sometimes longer then rinse even though this product works in as little as five.
STYLING PRODUCTS
Since I heat style my hair I have to use a heat protectant so the one I use is Briogeo Farewell Frizz blow dry perfection creme. This is a lightweight finishing formula that consists of a blend of rosehip, argan and coconut oils to prevent frizz and protect hair from thermal heat for up to 450 degrees fahrenheit.
Tips
- Air dry your hair before blow drying. It will allow you to place too much heat and go over and over your hair with the dryer to get it dry.
- To maintain cleaner hair for longer, sleep with a silk hair wrap/ bonnet.
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase.
- Try not to use the flat iron too much as this causes tremendous damage to your hair.
Always use products that is going to moisturize your hair if you have dry hair. Moisture is key if you want shiny, glossy looking hair. I also highly recommend the WOW Skin Science products as well as Briogeo because they both are clean brands.
Conclusion
I hope this post will be helpful to you and I would absolutely love to hear from you guys about what your own hair routines are. So leave me a comment in the comment section below.
